Udzungwa Mountains National Park
About Udzungwa Mountains National Park
A rainforest-cloaked range in the Eastern Arc Mountains, often called Africa’s Galapagos for the primates and plants found nowhere else on Earth — hiked, not driven.
There are no game drives here — Udzungwa is walked, on forest trails that climb through several vegetation zones to waterfalls and canopy viewpoints. The Sanje waterfall day hike is the classic introduction; keen hikers can trek for several days deeper into the range.

Practical notes
- •A hiking destination, not a game-drive park — bring proper boots.
- •The Sanje waterfall trail is a comfortable half-day; longer routes need a night in the park.
- •Usually added to a southern-circuit or Zanzibar routing rather than driven from Arusha.
