Ways to experience Tanzania
From thrilling game drives to tranquil nature walks, every activity below can be added to any itinerary we build for you.

Game drives
The core of every safari: early morning and late afternoon drives in a private 4×4 with a pop-up roof, guided by someone who has read these plains for years.

Walking safari
Tranquil nature walks with an armed ranger, on foot in the Ngorongoro highlands, Arusha National Park and parts of the Serengeti.

Maasai village visit
Genuine cultural interaction rather than performance: a village we work with year-round, with your guide translating and a fee that goes to the community.

Balloon safari
Lift off before dawn over the Serengeti and drift with the herds, followed by a champagne breakfast on the plains.

Crater-rim hiking
Empakai and Olmoti crater hikes through Maasai grazing land, walking where vehicles cannot go, with flamingos on the lake below.

Kilimanjaro trekking
Six routes to Uhuru Peak, operated by our sub-division Summit Seekers with daily health checks and supplementary oxygen carried throughout.

Stone Town & spice tour
Explore historic Stone Town on foot, then a spice farm outside the city — the other half of a Zanzibar week.

Snorkelling & dhow sailing
Mnemba atoll reefs by boat and a sunset dhow cruise, easily added to any beach stay.

Birdwatching
Over a thousand species across the northern circuit, from flamingos on Manyara to the endemics of the Ngorongoro forest.
Which activity happens where
Before you add an activity
Some need booking ahead
Balloon safaris, night drives and the Empakai hike are permit-based and sell out in peak season. Tell us at enquiry stage and we hold them with your deposit.
Costs are per person, on top
Balloon safaris run around $600 per person and night drives around $120. Walking safaris, village visits and birding are usually included in the itinerary price.
Age and fitness limits
Balloon flights require a minimum age of seven, walking safaris twelve in most parks, and the Empakai hike a reasonable level of hill fitness.
They stack sensibly
A typical day is a dawn game drive, a rest through the heat, then an activity in the late afternoon. We never book two long activities on the same day.
Mix any of these into one trip
Tell us which activities matter most and we will sequence them sensibly.
