BEACH & SAFARI
Saadani National Park
About Saadani National Park
Tanzania’s only coastal national park, where game drives on the savanna and swims in the Indian Ocean happen on the same afternoon.
Saadani sits on the coast north of Bagamoyo, close enough to Zanzibar to combine on a single light-aircraft hop. It is a small, low-key park — elephants sometimes walk onto the beach itself — better suited to travellers who want a taste of safari alongside a beach trip than to a dedicated big-game itinerary.

Practical notes
- •The easiest way to add "a bit of safari" onto a Zanzibar beach holiday.
- •Small and quiet compared with the northern circuit — set expectations accordingly.
- •Turtle nesting season adds a reason to time a visit around Jun–Sep.
